Adventure to Sturgis - Part Five
Adventure to Sturgis - Part Five
Leaving Mount Rushmore National Monument we start heading south on highway 16A towards our next adventure to Custer State Park. The park is only twenty miles from Mount Rushmore through winding and twisting roads through the pine wooded forests of the Black Hills. This highway is very narrow and you must pay attention to the road, especially with all the bikers that are visiting. One of the adventures is passing through several of the tunnels on your journey. When the signs say one vehicle at a time, they mean it. The traffic passing through the tunnels is especially demanding during this time of year with all the motorcycle traffic from the Sturgis Rally. Bikers stop and line up and than pass through the tunnel revving their motors so the echoes sounds like an earthquake. As they get to the opposite end another biker or bikers are taking their pictures.
